Edmonton (Edmonton, Alberta, Canada)
This photograph, taken on May 11 2009, was inspired by the photograph by Ernest Brown taken in 1912 from the approximately the same location (except that Mr. Brown photographed from the ground level - see the next photograph). Trees growing today do not permit to take the photo from the ground level so I had to take it from the roof of the University of Alberta Business Building (Stollery Center). Mr. Brown's photograph is just the next one here so you can compare them booth easily. Note that the path going up the slope immediately to the left of the wooden steps (1/3-rd width of the image from the left edge) seems to have existed already in 1912. The exact location from which to do the photograph was selected to align the first northern pillar supporting the High Level bridge with the dome of the Parliament Building, exactly like in the 1912 image (at that time the Parliament Building was under construction so the dome did not exist yet, the bridge deck did not exist yet either but the pillars were already finished). The right edge of the image is near the fourth pillar, like in the 1912 image.
